5 draft prospects for the Panthers to replace Christian McCaffrey in 2023

Carolina Panthers could draft Sean Tucker
Another potential name worthy of consideration is Sean Tucker. The Syracuse prospect looks like another that can make an impression once he gets to the NFL and there was a lot to like about the way the running back applied himself against Clemson from limited touches in what appeared to be a solid audition versus one of college football’s most dominant defensive fronts.
Tucker has dual-threat capabilities as demonstrated by his 914 combined yards and eight touchdowns this season. His low center of gravity allows him to evade willing tacklers with ease at times and there is a polished approach in the passing game with soft hands to further enhance his influence.
Although Tucker wouldn’t be classed as having an elite burst by any stretch of the imagination, there is enough straight-line speed to suggest he can become an every-down back at the next level. However, there are concerns about his build and whether he can cope with the rigors of bigger hits from grown men in the pros.
Becoming more decisive is something else that will assist Tucker in his pursuit of a top-100 selection when the time comes. If further improvements are made in the coming months, then this represents a potential steal for the Carolina Panthers and one they should contemplate, at the very least.
If the Panthers went in this direction, then it might be worth handing D’Onta Foreman an extension to ease the transition and provide the physical presence Tucker might not have initially.
