What were the huge positives to take from a surprising win for the Carolina Panthers in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

When fans turned up to Bank Of America Stadium on Sunday, only the brightest optimist was expecting a win. Instead, P.J. Walker, the former XFL star, put in his most complete performance as an NFL starter as he totally outplayed Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Little was expected from this Carolina Panthers’ offensive unit. They found themselves ranked last in most categories, and in a week where they traded away star Christian McCaffrey and fellow starter Robbie Anderson, one could be forgiven for thinking that the Bucs would just turn up in uptown Charlotte and get themselves back on track.

However, this is a team under interim head coach Steve Wilks that is certainly not entertaining the idea of tanking regardless of what is being speculated in the national media. The post-game scenes in the locker room underlined the respect these players have for their coach and just how hard they’re willing to play for him.

While fans are looking ahead to next season and potentially a high draft pick, it’s important to remember a lot of these players are fighting for their futures, so tanking and losing will not be on their minds.

It was a significant morale boost in Week 7. Here are five huge positives to emerge from the triumph.
