Which Carolina Panthers players are well on the way to earning new contracts following their efforts in 2022 so far?

It’s been a rocky road in 2022 for the Carolina Panthers. One that could indicate further changes are coming before the upcoming trade deadline and when the 2023 offseason formally arrives.

Despite firing head coach Matt Rhule and trading both Robbie Anderson and Christian McCaffrey, all hope is not lost for the Panthers. Their impressive win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7 puts them within one game of the NFC South lead, which is remarkable to think about considering the team stands at 2-5 and has already begun forming plans for the future.

What comes next in the coming weeks remains the primary focus. Talk of tanking was never going to fly with professionals fighting for their own futures, so it’ll be interesting to see if interim head coach Steve Wilks can continue providing the right preparation and motivation to get this franchise on the right path.

With that being said, we picked out four Panthers players who look on course for contract extensions when the current campaign comes to a conclusion.

Eddy Pineiro – Carolina Panthers K

Losing Zane Gonzalez to a season-ending injury was a body blow for the Carolina Panthers. Thankfully, their acquisition of Eddy Pineiro was a tremendous bit of business and ensured no momentum was lost.

Pineiro has been almost flawless in 2022, making 92.3 percent of his field goal attempts and hitting all 10 of his extra point efforts. If the same trend continues over Carolina’s remaining games, then he’ll have earned the right to compete with Gonzalez for the starting gig next year.
