Carolina Panthers could target Marvin Mims

Marvin Mims is not the biggest wide receiver to ever play college football. But one would be hard-pressed to find a more competitive guy on the field.

The Oklahoma prospect is rapidly surging up draft boards after a fantastic 2022 season so far. Mims has already accumulated 32 receptions for 542 receiving yards and three touchdowns, which is no mean feat considering the Sooners have been without quarterback Dillon Gabriel for some of their games.

Simply put, Mims is a natural playmaker. Someone that has supreme intelligence and athleticism capable of making things happen almost anywhere on the field.

Another thing that separates Mims is his ability to generate yards after the catch. This is consistently evident and in keeping with the ongoing trend across the league following the success of players such as Deebo Samuel.

Of course, one cannot dismiss the questions that come with being undersized. Mims can get overawed by more physically imposing cornerbacks and might be limited to slot responsibilities upon arriving in the pros.

Again, the Carolina Panthers have to figure that out for themselves. But they are now loaded with Day 2 options following their decision to trade Christian McCaffrey, which could make Mims an affordable luxury.
