3 teams that could trade for Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield

Saints could trade for Baker Mayfield
Baker Mayfield switching NFC South teams would be a turn-up for the books. But the New Orleans Saints are performing well below expectations in 2022 and unless things drastically improve in the coming weeks, then the Philadephia Eagles could land a top-five selection they acquired via trade last year.
Jameis Winston is now healthy. But head coach Dennis Allen has already named Andy Dalton as the starter for Week 8, which is not the biggest confidence boost for the former Florida State standout by any stretch.
Should Allen decide that neither Dalton nor Winston can provide the necessary production, then taking a swing at Mayfield is a daring proposition. One that the Carolina Panthers might consider themselves depending on Sam Darnold’s health and how P.J. Walker performs in Week 8.
In truth, no team is going to give up valuable draft capital for Mayfield at this stage. The market wasn’t exactly robust for the signal-caller during the offseason and that’s unlikely to change despite the question being asked during the player’s media availability on Thursday.
Besides, P.J. Walker’s inconsistent performances since joining the Panthers could mean Mayfield gets another opportunity to start down the line. Although there is also the presence of Sam Darnold to factor into the equation.
