Carolina Panthers must silence Tyler Boyd
With Ja’Maar Chase going down with an injury that will keep the wide receiver out in Week 9, the next man up for quarterback Joe Burrow is Tyler Boyd. And what a second option he is.
The former Pittsburgh standout truly broke out for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7 with a masterful performance. Completely dismantling a hampered secondary en route to a 155-yard receiving day, his second three-digit contribution of the season.
Boyd used his sneaky speed to get the corners heading upfield and utilized his above-average size to box them out when they came back to contest the catch. A mixture of explosiveness and physicality that teams salivate over.
The wideout could easily be a No.1 option on almost any team in the NFL and it pays to have that kind of top-end depth. Especially when you consider Tee Higgins is also a threat that the Carolina Panthers must counteract this weekend.
Limiting Boyd will go a long way toward keeping Burrow from taking over another game as the young quarterback has proven capable on countless occasions. It’s not all about pressure, a coverage sack is still a sack and that is the best way to beat this Bengals team, something the Panthers can do given how suspect Cincinnati’s offensive line has been lately.
