Carolina Panthers could target Leslie Frazier

Taking a swing at someone with previous head coaching experience is something the Carolina Panthers should consider in 2023. They are giving Steve Wilks every chance to win the job long-term after he was so harshly treated by the Arizona Cardinals, but contingency plans must be put in place in case team owner David Tepper isn’t 100 percent convinced.

Gambling on an inexperienced up-and-comer from the college ranks blew up in Tepper’s face during his first hire. This was a huge mistake he’s unlikely to make again to avoid further concerns about his ability to successfully run an NFL organization.

Although Tepper is reportedly looking at an offensive mind to lead Carolina moving forward, ignoring the capabilities of those with a defensive background would be foolish. Especially considering the wealth of talent Carolina has on that side of the football.

Leslie Frazier might be 63 years old. But he’s enjoying a new lease of life as the Buffalo Bills’ defensive coordinator and can expect some interest in the New Year.

The AFC East juggernauts look primed for another Super Bowl tilt in 2022 and if they can get over the hump at long last, Frazier’s stock will surge further. His experience is a major asset in various key roles, even if his time as Minnesota Vikings head coach didn’t go according to plan.

Every team wants those who’ve been part of winning franchises. That’s why age shouldn’t be a barrier when it comes to Frazier.
