Derrick Brown – Carolina Panthers DT

To see Derrick Brown performing at an elite level is vindication for many influential figures past and present within the Carolina Panthers. Serious questions were being asked about whether taking the formidable defensive tackle at No. 7 overall in 2020 was the right call to make, especially considering the organization reportedly contemplated moving up to secure quarterback Justin Herbert before going in a different direction.

Year 3 was always the time when Brown anticipated making the biggest strides. Something he’s accomplished emphatically and his latest dominant display with the NFL world watching put the entire league on notice.

Brown was a relentless force on the interior, causing absolute havoc among the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive line and throwing grown men around as if they were toys on a Christmas morning. His performance was remarkable all things considered, which further cements the Auburn product’s status as an integral part of Carolina’s long-term plans moving forward.

Should Brown continue developing and making a similar impact in the coming weeks, then a first Pro Bowl selection won’t be far behind. If the Panthers had a better record, then the player would be a legitimate candidate for All-Pro honors given his consistent production.

To say this is the best-case scenario surrounding Brown would be an understatement. And his current domination should strike fear into anyone unfortunate enough to come into his path this season.
