Carolina Panthers got a monster game from Frankie Luvu

It has been a quiet few weeks for Frankie Luvu. The Carolina Panthers outside linebacker was arguably the team’s MVP to start the season, but he was troubled by a shoulder injury that kept him out a couple of games and it’s taken a little time for the player to get himself back to 100 percent fitness.

On Thursday we saw the explosive nature of Luvu that had been so prominent earlier in the campaign. The former Washington State star finished the contest with 12 tackles and two sacks as well as two tackles for loss during a dominant overall display that left further reasons for encouragement.

Luvu is someone whose game is built on his quickness running sideline to sideline. This is something we saw in abundance in Week 10 against an Atlanta Falcons team that can run the football effectively when given the chance.

The linebacker core has come under criticism in recent weeks as Carolina’s defense struggled, but this was a much-improved performance from the group. Luvu and Shaq Thompson in particular seemed to be everywhere on the field making some big plays, which is exactly what was required to propel the Panthers to victory.

This pair will have to be at their best in Week 11 when they face the league’s most elusive rushing quarterback Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
