Baker Mayfield throws 2 TDs and 0 INTs

This is it for Baker Mayfield. One final chance to prove he belongs among NFL starting quarterbacks after P.J. Walker’s misfortune resulted in the Carolina Panthers installing him as their No. 1 option once again.

Mayfield caught the eye with the game out of sight at the Cincinnati Bengals. Some argued that was pretty easy in the circumstances, but the extra sense of urgency and freedom within Ben McAdoo’s scheme without Matt Rhule shouldn’t go unnoticed.

The former Oklahoma phenom has plenty of experience playing in Baltimore’s hostile environment from his time with the Cleveland Browns. Something that should stand Mayfield in tremendous stead as he looks to start silencing some ongoing doubters.

Getting into an early rhythm is of paramount importance. McAdoo must provide Mayfield with some easy completions right out of the gate and keep him out of harm’s way, which should build confidence and keep the chains ticking over in the face of an outstanding defense.

Steve Wilks won’t hesitate to throw Sam Darnold into the mix if things don’t go well. Although this piles additional pressure on Mayfield, it’s nothing he hasn’t experienced before and could lead to improved efficiency at a time when Carolina needs it most.

Two touchdowns and no interceptions is a difficult ask for Mayfield in Week 11. But that’s why this is a bold prediction rather than a realistic expectation.
