4 players the Panthers must rely on more in Week 11 vs. Ravens
By Dean Jones
Laviska Shenault Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR
It’s been a rollercoaster campaign for Laviska Shenault Jr. He was traded to the Carolina Panthers early on, took his time settling into Ben McAdoo’s scheme, and although the player’s flashed, injuries have prevented him from making a lasting impact in a different environment.
Shenault looks like someone that can help the Panthers long-term. He is physical, is a threat to score every time he touches the football, and also offers something a little different from what McAdoo’s offense already has at its disposal.
With Baker Mayfield coming in as the starter at quarterback following P.J. Walker’s injury, the Panthers must do everything in their power to get him into a rhythm early and provide the signal-caller with some early, easy wins. That’s where Shenault comes in.
Getting the ball out quickly and allowing Shenault opportunities to create yards after the catch is something McAdoo should implement early and often. Even if this doesn’t come with big gains, it could put Mayfield in more manageable situations in pursuit of moving the chains.
Shenault has an opportunity to become a key cog in Carolina’s offense with Robbie Anderson no longer around. The Ravens have a formidable defense across the board, but another stellar outing is well within the Colorado product’s capabilities if he gets on the same page with Mayfield and builds some early momentum.
