Carolina Panthers select Parker Washington

  • Wide Receiver | Penn State

Despite trading Robbie Anderson to the Arizona Cardinals after his sideline outburst in Week 6, the Carolina Panthers have a decent core trio of wide receivers they can build around long-term. D.J. Moore is the best of the bunch and is rightfully valued highly, with Terrace Marshall Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr. also making strides under the experienced guidance of Steve Wilks.

With that being said, no team can ever have enough difference-makers at the skill positions. Once bigger priorities are filled, then it might be worth Carolina taking a flyer on a prospect that can emerge as a rotational piece.

Parker Washington hasn’t had the best consistency at the quarterback position to call upon this season at Penn State. But there is a lot to like about his transferable skills once better distribution comes his way at the next level.

Washington’s best attribute is slick route-running which enables him to get open quickly. The wideout also has enough speed to take the top off any defense and is a supreme threat when it comes to generating yards after the catch for good measure.

Whether Washington will be best suited for slot responsibilities in the NFL remains to be seen. But if the prospect is still available at this juncture, then the Panthers could do far worse.
