4 critical observations from the Panthers defeat at Ravens in Week 11

Ben McAdoo’s time may be numbered
One thing Steve Wilks has shown is a willingness to make changes within his coaching staff. Since being named interim head coach, four have been relieved of their duties and don’t be surprised if Ben McAdoo is next on the list.
Similarly to what we saw against the Cincinnati Bengals, McAdoo decided to completely abandon the run with D’Onta Foreman having just 11 carries for 24 yards while Baker Mayfield attempted 33 passes.
How much of the Carolina Panthers offensive struggles are on the quarterback or offensive coordinator is hard to determine. But what we can say for certain is that Mayfield is not a fit for McAdoo’s system.
What this offensive unit produced with P.J. Walker under center was far more competent. When Mayfield was inserted back into the lineup, this unit immediately reverted to the stagnant offense from earlier in the season.
With the bye week coming up following Week 12, Wilks may be hesitant to make any sweeping changes to his staff. But if Carolina’s offense struggles once again McAdoo’s day as the offensive coordinator could be numbered.
McAdoo represents a last-ditch move from Matt Rhule to get this franchise trending forward. Unfortunately for the former Baylor man, his confidence was ill-founded and it’s another reason why he’s unlikely to ever become an NFL head coach again.
