Carolina Panthers could target Myles Murphy

Much like the situation with Will Anderson Jr., Myles Murphy is expected to be a high selection during the 2023 NFL Draft and the Carolina Panthers would need to ignore their need for a quarterback to make this move a reality. However, it’s a tempting proposition if Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud are off the board.

The Panthers have notoriously never picked a prospect from Clemson despite how close the program is situated. This trend could change next year given how many outstanding players are set to take their chances at the next level.

Murphy is arguably the best of the bunch, boasting all the physical traits normally associated with outstanding NFL pass-rushers. His production is consistent and dangerous, with 36 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks from 33 games in a Tigers uniform to date.

Two key traits that stand out when watching Murphy are his motor and length, which cause substantial problems for opposing offensive linemen. His spin move is almost unstoppable and this is matched by an impressive repertoire of other moves that make the most out of his technical prowess.

If Murphy can add more ruthlessness to his game and become a more convincing tackler, this is a tailormade partner for Brian Burns. Whether the Panthers can afford to pass on a more pressing need early in the draft remains to be seen.
