Frankie Luvu – Carolina Panthers LB

Energy. Enthusiasm. Aggressiveness.

These are all traits associated with Frankie Luvu, the outstanding Carolina Panthers outside linebacker who has capitalized on a significant opportunity in 2022.

Fans were expecting big things from Luvu this season after the Panthers extended him to prevent his departure in free agency. Something the former Washington State star was richly deserving of after a sensational first campaign with the team on a rotational basis.

Despite this positivity, his production as a starter on the New York Jets meant nothing was guaranteed. But it didn’t take long for Luvu to prove beyond all doubt he is now firmly established as a core part of Carolina’s long-term plans.

Luvu has been phenomenal this season despite missing some time through injury. His ability to snuff out running plays is coming on significantly and this is further boosted by his ever-improving consistency in generating pressure.

In just 10 games this season – nine of which he’s started – Luvu has 74 tackles, four sacks, and 10 tackles for loss. These are outstanding numbers from a second-level defender that’s the beating heart of Carolina’s progressive young defense.

The Panthers got an absolute steal where Luvu is concerned. A rare gift that the organization would be wise not to waste.
