4 high-upside quarterbacks the Panthers could draft in 2023
By Dean Jones
Which lesser-known quarterbacks with high upside could the Carolina Panthers take a close look at during the 2023 NFL Draft?
It comes as no surprise to see the Carolina Panthers being linked with the top college quarterbacks as preparations for the 2023 NFL Draft gather pace. No longer can the organization gamble on suspect trades for underperforming veterans – now is the time to find a legitimate option under center and act accordingly.
Unless Steve Wilks leads the Panthers on a memorable run over their remaining games, they are in line for a high-end selection next spring. Although prospects such as Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud could be out of reach if Carolina gets a couple more wins in the column.
This is something those in power are likely planning for. Every signal-caller set to take their chances at the next level will be scrutinized heavily between now and when it’s time to get the next batch of recruits from the college ranks, so it’ll be interesting to see all the twists and turns unfold over the next few months.
With this in mind, here are four quarterback prospects with high upside that the Panthers could draft in 2023.
Quarterback No. 1
Carolina Panthers could draft Tanner McKee
Even though it hasn’t been the final season at Stanford that Tanner McKee hoped for, his effortless throwing motion and impressive attitude are sure to generate some interest from around the league. The size, arm strength, and mechanics mean there is plenty to work with, but it’ll take some time before the prospect is ready to assume command under center at the next level.
McKee’s production sometimes doesn’t match the exceptional physical attributes at his disposal. The signal-caller needs to improve his touch and processing upon arriving in the pros, so it would be a real project for the Carolina Panthers if they went down this particular route.
