Which Carolina Panthers role players look on course for extensions in 2023 at the team’s long-awaited bye week?

The Carolina Panthers have just five games remaining before their season comes to a conclusion. Steve Wilks and his roster still boast faint hopes of winning the divisional title thanks in no small part to the overall standard within the NFC South, but fans are already casting glances on another important offseason for the franchise in 2023.

Carolina is getting a new head coach – whether that’s Steve Wilks or someone else. There could also be some substantial changes to playing personnel and without much spare cash to go around currently, difficult decisions are upcoming.

That will be for general manager Scott Fitterer and cap guru Samir Suleiman to decide. But there are players already with the team doing everything they can to win new deals when the time comes.

On this subject, we picked out four Panthers role players that appear to be on course for extended stays next season and beyond.

Apart from two critical missed kicks at the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8, the consistency displayed by Eddy Pineiro has been especially pleasing. Uncertainty surrounded the position when Zane Gonzalez suffered a season-ending injury during the preseason, but the former Florida star has filled in seamlessly all things considered.

Pineiro’s hit 91.7 percent of his field goal attempts and 90% of extra points. If the player continues this form in the coming weeks, then the Carolina Panthers might decide to offer him a one-year deal and an opportunity to compete with Gonzalez in training camp.
