After a difficult rookie campaign thanks in no small part to Urban Meyer, there’s been a lot to like about Trevor Lawrence‘s emergence in 2022. The former Clemson star is coming of age under Dough Pederson’s superior coaching and although the results might not show it, the Jacksonville Jaguars are a team on the up with their signal-caller leading the charge.

Lawrence formally announced himself as one of the league’s better quarterbacks in Week 12 versus the Baltimore Ravens, where he made several huge throws in key moments down the stretch to pull off a miraculous victory and earn a lofty passer rating of 129.8.

Simply put, this is the type of production many expected from a prospect that had generational traits coming out of college. Something the Carolina Panthers didn’t get from Baker Mayfield when going up against the same opposition one week prior.

This weekend provides Lawrence with a favorable matchup. The Detroit Lions are fighting hard under head coach Dan Campbell, but their pass defense leaves a lot to be desired and the No. 1 overall selection in 2021 will be relishing this matchup.

Detroit is conceding 259.9 yards per game through the air, which is ranked No. 29 league-wide. Lawrence is currently averaging 241.4 passing yards per contest, so it’s not hard to see where he can put the Lions to the sword in this one.

With this in mind, backing Lawrence to throw over 252.5 passing yards at -110 with FanDuel Sportsbook (bet $110 to win $100) could be worth its weight in gold.
