Which former Carolina Panthers players are thriving in a different environment during the 2022 season so far?

Watching how former players get on upon leaving the Carolina Panthers always sparks plenty of debate. It also puts into question the decisions of those in power to go with other alternatives for whatever reason.

It could be financial, form on the field also plays a leading role in the thought process, and one also must consider the specific player and whether they actually wanted to commit themselves to Carolina in the first place.

Players come and go all the time. Something that was evident once again this week when Baker Mayfield was granted an early release after finding himself further down the pecking order than many envisaged following his high-profile trade from the Cleveland Browns.

With that being said, here are five former Panthers players who have thrived with new teams in 2022 so far.

Graham Gano – Former Carolina Panthers K

Matt Rhule’s shocking treatment of Graham Gano upon his return from injury came back to haunt the Carolina Panthers. While the veteran kicker excelled elsewhere, his old team couldn’t find the right formula until Zane Gonzalez came into the fold, which cost them games and piled additional pressure on the head coach, who was mercifully fired after another pathetic loss in Week 5.

Gano continues to shine for the New York Giants, who are right in contention for a postseason spot within a much improved NFC East division. He’s made 88 percent of his field goals and 91.3% of extra points attempted, providing his team with an assured kicking presence that can hopefully make a big difference down the stretch.
