Which impending Carolina Panthers free agents haven’t helped themselves during a rollercoaster 2022 campaign so far?

The Carolina Panthers are still fighting until it’s mathematically impossible to secure the NFC South. Although it seems unlikely given Tom Brady’s miraculous comeback against the New Orleans Saints, which gives them a semi-comfortable cushion at the summit.

Whether the Panthers can make up some significant ground over the next five games remains to be seen. But interim head coach Steve Wilks won’t want a drop-off in effort or momentum as he looks to convince David Tepper he’s worthy of a longer commitment.

Carolina has a big off-season upcoming. There promises to be plenty of roster turnover if Scott Fitterer’s first two years are any indication, with some important decisions to be made regarding those already part of the squad.

With this in mind, here are four impending Panthers free agents who’ve done themselves no favors in 2022.

Many were shocked to see Sean Chandler come back on a short-term deal and make the 53-man roster in 2022. The defensive back had a close association with Matt Rhule from their time together at Temple, which obviously worked in his favor even if performances on the field left a lot to be desired.

Chandler’s been a bit-part player throughout the campaign. Given how Rhule is no longer around and his influence remains a concern, there’s little chance of the safety being offered a new deal before free agency next year.
