Carolina Panthers must help Jaycee Horn

The pattern in the Carolina Panthers’ cornerback room has stayed the same. Jaycee Horn is the clear No. 1 but unfortunately, the drop-off with every other available option is steep.

With Donte Jackson out for the season, this has left C.J. Henderson to fill the void. And frankly, the former Florida man has been arguably the worst team’s worst cornerback in 2022.

D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are among the NFL’s best wideout tandems and will be relishing this matchup. One of those is going to be matched up against a player who struggled to cover Damiere Byrd earlier in the season, so it could be a long afternoon.

Horn will match primarily against Metcalf. An athletic phenom who is a nightmare for defensive coordinators across the league.

This could leave Henderson matched up against the speedy Lockett. The savvy veteran has been in the league long enough to take advantage of favorable matchups and matching up against a player who possesses a 4.40-second 40-yard dash speed is a frightening prospect for the No. 9 overall selection in 2020.

Henderson may be given a chance early against Lockett. But if the player struggles as he’s done throughout the season, don’t be surprised to see Keith Taylor Jr. given more reps.
