5 draft prospects that could immediately help the Panthers in 2023

Carolina Panthers could draft Emmanuel Forbes
The fact cornerback is still a need for the Carolina Panthers is disappointing. Jaycee Horn’s emergence into a shutdown presence has been welcome, but Donte Jackson’s injury history and C.J. Henderson’s struggles mean the primary decision-makers could target another exciting prospect from the college ranks as a result.
If this scenario comes to fruition, then Emmanuel Forbes is a player that warrants significant attention. The Mississippi State product has all the traits associated with what’s required in the modern-day NFL – size, length, speed, and outstanding athletic capabilities.
Forbes has locked down almost everyone in his path this season, which is no mean feat in the ultra-competitive SEC. There is a swagger to his play in keeping with what the Panthers drafted in Horn, so pairing the two could provide the franchise with a long-term tandem to build around for future success.
One area where Forbes could use work is against the run. Tackling could be an issue against elite players, but this can be easily coached up by Carolina and especially if Steve Wilks is retained as head coach beyond 2022.
Adding some extra muscle wouldn’t hurt where Forbes is concerned. But this is a prospect that can add his name to the growing list of first-year cornerbacks making an immediate impression once they get to the NFL.
