4 Panthers players with potential to get hot down the stretch in 2022
By Dean Jones
Which Carolina Panthers players have the potential to get hot down the stretch as they look to dethrone the Tampa Bay Buccaneers atop the NFC South?
The Carolina Panthers are riding on the crest of a wave under interim head coach Steve Wilks. Their 4-4 record since Matt Rhule was mercifully fired might not seem like much, but this is a significant step in the right direction for a team that became the NFL’s laughing-stock when the newly-appointed Nebraska man called the shots.
Whether this is something the Panthers can build on down the stretch remains to be seen. One would think it would take three more wins to secure the NFC South, but it might be less than that considering the problems currently enveloping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.
Carolina has a shot, which is the best-case scenario at this stage. But for the Panthers to take that next step, they’ll need a collective effort and players making the most out of the opportunity in front of them.
With this in mind, here are four Panthers players that have the potential to get hot down the stretch.
Player No. 1
Jeremy Chinn – Carolina Panthers S
Jeremy Chinn turned in his finest performance since returning from injured/reserve in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. Something that could indicate more is on the way where the versatile defensive playmaker is concerned.
Chinn’s presence on the backend is a massive boost. He remains an instinctive force against the run and there were also signs of progress in coverage last time out that shouldn’t be ignored.
If the Carolina Panthers want to secure an improbable postseason berth, they’ll need Chinn firing on all cylinders. Getting veteran Xavier Woods back alongside the Southern Illinois product would also be beneficial.
