Frankie Luvu – Carolina Panthers LB

The Carolina Panthers were getting an outstanding contribution from Frankie Luvu way before Matt Rhule was fired. But the outside linebacker has taken his game to new heights with Steve Wilks leading the charge.

Luvu is an absolute revelation. The beating heart of Carolina’s blossoming defense and one of the primary leaders within the locker room due to his fearless mentality and unrivaled enthusiasm.

New defensive coordinator Al Holcomb is providing Luvu with the freedom to be instinctive, which is when he’s at his most dangerous. The former Washington State stud is explosive and is making a significant difference both as a run defender and when the time comes to generate havoc in opposing backfields.

This is bringing about incredible results. Luvu already has career highs in tackles, sacks, tackles for loss, passes defended, and interceptions with four games to go. His 77.1 grade from Pro Football Focus is another fine reflection of his exceptional efforts.

Carolina signed Luvu to a two-year contract before free agency which expires in 2024. Judging by what the player’s accomplished since joining the team, it wouldn’t be surprising to see another – much more lucrative – deal coming his way once the Panthers’ commitments this season come to a conclusion.
