Which quarterbacks with potentially dynamic traits could the Carolina Panthers target during the 2023 offseason?

Sam Darnold remains the Carolina Panthers starter in the immediate aftermath of their Week 15 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Something that was expected considering he was far from the team’s biggest problem at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

Despite the reprieve given to Darnold, interim head coach Steve Wilks outlined his desire to find a long-term solution under center if he gets the job long-term from team owner David Tepper. This scenario is still in play given the esteem in which he is held within the franchise.

Wilks elaborated a little on the new blood he wants in the quarterback room. Finding a dynamic signal-caller would be his main objective, but whether Tepper gives him this opportunity remains to be seen.

Should Wilks get the head coaching gig beyond 2022, here are five quarterbacks with dynamic traits the Panthers could target.

Carolina Panthers could target Lamar Jackson

David Tepper has been known to make a bold move or two throughout his time as team owner so far. Although it’s highly unlikely that the Baltimore Ravens would entertain the thought of trading Lamar Jackson, his ongoing contract stalemate is something the Carolina Panthers and others across the league will be watching with interest.

Baltimore holds the cards with the prospect of placing the franchise tag on Jackson for the next two years. However, if the signal-caller holds out and the organization doesn’t relinquish its current stance, a scenario could emerge where they start taking calls for the former NFL MVP.

The draft compensation and contract would be astronomical. But if Jackson does become available, the Panthers should shoot their shot.
