Carolina Panthers could target Will Levis
Considering how tight things are financially for the Carolina Panthers in 2023, the most likely scenario is finding a talented young quarterback from the upcoming NFL Draft class. Something those in power should identify as a matter of extreme urgency next spring.
It appears as if Bryce Young is emerging as the consensus No. 1 overall selection. But another prospect is also surging despite enduring a difficult final season at the college level.
Will Levis is a polarizing figure. Teams are reportedly in love with his physical attributes and arm strength, but the quarterback’s production at Kentucky in 2022 left more questions than answers about his chances of succeeding in the pros.
Levis has NFL-ready arm strength and is supremely athletic for a man his size. However, this looks like a project given there are real concerns about processing and decision-making in big moments.
Teams will always bet on the traits Levis brings to the table. There are also multiple reports suggesting team owner David Tepper is becoming enamored with the thought of having him in Carolina.
Much will depend on where the Panthers end up picking, in all honesty. Levis will blow up the evaluation process and might go first overall when it’s all said and done, which would force Carolina into alternative options unless they’re convinced enough to trade up.
