Carolina Panthers could target Jordan Love

Another quarterback trade would bring about a collective sigh from fans who’ve witnessed a stream of constant failures at football’s most critical position when Matt Rhule called the shots. If it was Lamar Jackson, that’s a completely different story.

The Carolina Panthers are in their current flux in large part to poor personnel decisions under center since Rhule took the decision to release Cam Newton in 2020. Going down the college route would be the most cost-effective, but examining the possibility of bringing in Jordan Love cannot be ruled out entirely.

Love is waiting patiently for Aaron Rodgers to ride off into the sunset. The two-time defending NFL MVP will discuss his future with the franchise after the campaign, but it would be a surprise if he walked away given the financial implications and how much the Green Bay Packers struggled this season.

What this means for Love is unclear. He’s looked like a capable NFL quarterback when in the lineup – especially this season – but sitting for the fourth year of his rookie contract as Rodgers’ understudy would be incredibly frustrating and could force the former first-round pick away as a result.

This all hinges on Rodgers. But if the future Pro Football Hall of Famer opts to stick around, then the Panthers could strike and get a pretty good deal for Love in the circumstances.
