3 Carolina Panthers starters that could be replaced in 2023

Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers QB
This has nothing to do with Sam Darnold‘s production since becoming the starter, which has been pretty decent overall. However, the Carolina Panthers simply must find a franchise quarterback to stand any chance of making real strides next season and beyond.
Darnold looks more polished as a game manager. His decision-making is improving all the time and there is an improved confidence in the signal-caller’s demeanor that could mean all hope is not lost regarding any career renaissance.
The Panthers gave up a significant amount to get Darnold from the New York Jets. This proved to be one of many errors in judgment from Matt Rhule, so the new regime cannot afford to make the same mistakes at football’s most important position.
Counting on Darnold with almost no expectations is one thing. Giving him a new deal and a chance to start in 2023 is something else entirely.
Carolina needs to draft one of the top four quarterback prospects entering the NFL next year. That gives them a difference-maker to develop and allows them to see what they have in Matt Corral, who endured some torrid injury luck as a rookie.
If the Panthers decide they need a bridge, then Darnold comes into the equation. But moving forward with the former USC standout as their No. 1 option is something that shouldn’t enter their train of thought based on his career trajectory.
