Carolina Panthers win and take command of NFC South

There’s been a significant line change already ahead of Sunday’s clash in Week 17. According to the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, the Carolina Panthers are 3.0-point underdogs at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after starting the week +5.5, which is a substantial shift and further proof of rising confidence in Steve Wilks‘ squad.

The interim head coach has done a fantastic job so far. Wilks is a supreme leader of men and is undoubtedly making the best out of a difficult situation to stake a strong claim for the job beyond 2022.

Overcoming Tom Brady and the Buccaneers for the second time this season would be nothing short of incredible. The seven-time Super Bowl winner always seems to come through in these situations, but Carolina restricted him to three points in Week 7 and there’s nothing to suggest the Panthers cannot make things extremely difficult by implementing the same level of commitment.

Playoff football seemed an inconceivable notion when Matt Rhule’s torrid spell as Carolina’s head coach came to an end. Wilks laid the groundwork with a skeletal coaching staff and without Christian McCaffrey to provide hope once again, which is something every fan should appreciate after languishing in the doldrums for so long.

The Panthers go into this game with nothing to lose and everything to gain. And Wilks can assure he is the man to lead this team long-term by masterminding another shock victory to take command of the NFC South with one game remaining.
