4 Carolina Panthers that could retire after the 2022 season

Ben McAdoo – Carolina Panthers OC
After his underwhelming hire got off to the worst possible start, Ben McAdoo is slowly molding the Carolina Panthers’ offense into one that can make their strengths count. It’s not flashy or all that inventive, but it’s getting the job done.
While there is obvious room for improvement, McAdoo deserves credit for maximizing the tools at his disposal within Steve Wilks’ more professional preparations. Whether this is enough for an extended stay beyond 2022 is another matter.
McAdoo is still only 45 years old, which is relatively young by coaching standards. But if his time with the Panthers concludes after 2022, it’s hard to come up with legitimate reasons why he could get a similar opportunity on another team.
The game’s evolved to a point where McAdoo’s lack of scheme creativity is severely outdated. And he doesn’t exactly need the money after getting a hefty payoff when fired as New York Giants head coach.
There is a scenario where Wilks keeps McAdoo on the books thanks to their current working relationship. But a fresh injection of ideas on offense with the potential of a franchise quarterback coming on board almost guarantees Carolina will go in a different direction.
