4 reasons Carolina Panthers should consider Jim Harbaugh for head coach
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers would get a supreme leader
One could argue that the Carolina Panthers already have an exceptional leader at their disposal in Steve Wilks. A man who led a complete culture shift within the franchise despite challenges beyond comprehension – something that led many established stars to come out publicly in support of the interim winning the job long-term.
This wasn’t enough to get Carolina into the dance. Wilks will still be strongly considered regardless, but the fact that team owner David Tepper has already sought a discussion with Jim Harbaugh indicates he won’t hesitate to go in a different direction.
Harbaugh’s leadership skills are NFL-caliber, too. His natural charisma and organizational techniques have resulted in success wherever he’s gone, which won’t go unnoticed by Tepper or any other team looking for a head coaching upgrade this offseason.
There remains a huge passion for all things football in Harbaugh. He’s been around the game for decades and still has a lot to give – one only has to examine the phenomenal job the coach has undertaken at Michigan despite falling short in the college football playoffs once again to see that.
Carolina’s locker room should instantly respect the credentials and overall leadership Harbaugh brings to the table. This would not be cheap from Tepper’s perspective, but getting such a respected coach on board at an important stage in franchise history represents a power flex the billionaire is more than capable of pulling off.
