Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers QB

This may very well be the last time that Sam Darnold starts a game with the Carolina Panthers and in the NFL overall. More importantly, he knows it.

The NFL is a business above all else. If you don’t perform the door will hit you on the way out. We’ve seen it with the Panthers’ recent trades and Darnold is no exception to this rule.

Even with some solid game management that helped lead the Panthers on a late push that fell tantalizingly short, it will be a tall order to convince the powers at be that Darnold is the answer for the foreseeable future.

The quarterback position is one of the superstars in today’s league. Darnold simply isn’t that.

Game management will only get a team so far. Squads like the Tennesse Titans have learned that the hard way, consistently falling short of expectations in the playoffs.

However, just like Norman, Darnold has the chance to go out with a bang on Sunday and why not just start slinging the ball downfield? Take those shots that just haven’t been part of the game plan. Do something exciting to get the fans excited and hyped for what may come next year.

It’s hard to keep up hope throughout the offseason. But Darnold has the perfect chance to give the fans exactly what they so desperately need at the New Orleans Saints.

If the embattled signal-caller can deliver, it just may be enough to earn one more shot while the team brings along its quarterback of the future.
