Carolina Panthers will target Shane Steichen
An exceptional season from the Philadelphia Eagles could end up with a Super Bowl this season. It’s also propelled Shane Steichen into the head coaching conversation as one of the hottest names in the cycle.
The Carolina Panthers requested permission to speak with Steichen, which isn’t surprising. He is a bright play-caller responsible for Jalen Hurts’ immense improvements since entering the league, so getting a promotion for his outstanding efforts this offseason is almost guaranteed.
Teams are always looking to copycat the success of others. While the Eagles’ defense deserves significant respect – something that’s also coming with Jonathan Gannon getting multiple interviews – Steichen’s influence and career trajectory make him a trendy hire.
Carolina might have to wait a little while before bringing Steichen into the fold given Philadelphia’s playoff participation. But this thorough process needs patience and especially if they feel like this is the No. 1 avenue to go down.
Finding a franchise quarterback if not Matt Corral is essential for Steichen to hit the ground running. But he’s also proven more than capable of maximizing production from primary playmakers behind an established offensive line.
Leading an organization is a different ballgame altogether. However, there’s no doubt Steichen has the momentum to pull this off if given the chance.
