5 draft prospects the Carolina Panthers might miss after 2022 resurgence

Carolina Panthers could miss out on Bryce Young
- Quarterback | Alabama Crimson Tide
As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers have a huge need at the quarterback spot this offseason. Whether that comes via trade, free agency, or the 2023 NFL Draft remains to be seen.
General manager Scott Fitterer recently stated his desire to draft and develop under center. Although the front office figure didn’t specify whether that would be Matt Corral, Sam Darnold, or another exciting recruit.
Had the Panthers continued their concerning slump, they’d have the pick of the litter. Instead, they must now get creative in pursuit of finally solving what became a never-ending riddle during Matt Rhule’s dismal run as head coach.
Although there are growing concerns about his size, Bryce Young is still a prospect of interest. He is a player with franchise-caliber credentials that can be the catalyst behind major improvements.
The Chicago Bears boasting the No. 1 overall selection alters things for Carolina if they did want Young. However, the price to jump from No. 9 to the front of the queue will be substantial, so much will depend on how much the Panthers are willing to risk when it’s all said and done.
Young has all the tools. But after the Houston Texans played their way out of the top spot in Lovie Smith’s final game at the helm, all bets are off.
