Carolina Panthers trade offer No. 2

The Carolina Panthers are blessed with more draft capital than normal in the first 150 picks in 2023. This is down to the Christian McCaffrey trade, which gave those in power extra resources to make moves of their own should opportunities arise.

Acquiring Sean Payton as head coach would be a major coup for the Panthers. One that signals real intent and represents a major statement that they’ll do whatever it takes to become relevant once again.

After years of languishing among the NFL’s bottom feeders, this is a potential game-changer for Carolina. Even though the New Orleans Saints will aim to extract maximum compensation from an NFC South divisional rival before anything is confirmed.

If the Panthers are unwilling to give up the No. 9 overall selection as previously discussed, then offering New Orleans multiple second-rounders – including the two Carolina has this year – could be a tempting proposition. One that warrants serious consideration from the Saints’ point of view.

This would also allow Payton to secure his college quarterback in the first round. The Panthers also have a third-rounder, two-fourths, and a fifth to bolster other positional groups.

Perhaps the Saints want more than this, especially from the Panthers. And we might never know for sure if Payton and team owner David Tepper don’t hit it off during any potential interview.
