Ranking the 10 best Carolina Panthers players from 2022 season
D’Onta Foreman – Carolina Panthers RB
- 914 rushing yards
- 4.5 yards per carry
- 5 touchdowns
D’Onta Foreman did not start the season due to Christian McCaffrey still being on the team and Matt Rhule not properly utilizing his players. But after the former All-Pro got traded to the San Francisco 49ers, the Texas product carried the load and led the Carolina Panthers’ resurgence on offense.
Foreman’s best quality as a running back is the consistent yardage he is able to get on almost every run. Something that was evident throughout his time as Carolina’s lead option.
He is a big man at 6-foot-1 and 236 pounds. That size, in combination with his vision, makes Foreman a great short-yardage back.
Foreman also has great endurance. He can take 20+ carries a game and gets better as the contest goes on – an important trait when Carolina played with a lead.
He was the leader of an elite Panthers running attack in the immediate aftermath of McCaffrey’s departure. Whether it was enough for Foreman to earn an extended stay is the big question.
Foreman is not under contract in 2023. Carolina could draft a running back to pair with Hubbard, but the Panthers should find a way to make a deal work for all parties.
