3 reasons the Carolina Panthers should avoid Derek Carr trade

Carolina Panthers must learn from previous mistakes
As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers have a terrible track record when it comes to picking quarterbacks capable of effective performance levels on a consistent basis. Teddy Bridgewater, P.J. Walker, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield didn’t set the world alight by any stretch, so hitting the reset button is something that should be strongly considered.
Outside of a daring move for Lamar Jackson, no veteran should be that appealing. Something that was mentioned by general manager Scott Fitterer, who outlined his desire to draft and develop while keeping all his options on the table during recent media availability.
"“Eventually, we do need a guy that we need to draft and develop. We need someone homegrown that’s going to be here over a long period of time. Whether that’s Matt, whether it’s Sam that we keep here, who’s still a young quarterback, or someone else. We’re going to keep all of our options open and do what’s best for this team.”"
Derek Carr’s had a decent career. However, last season’s underwhelming campaign with Josh McDaniels calling plays is deeply concerning – even more so when one considers the presence of All-Pro wide receiver and former college teammate Davante Adams on the roster.
This is a decision the Panthers cannot afford to fumble. If Carr becomes a free agent, it might be in play, but trading for the player is absolutely out of the question.
