Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR

  • 2022 stats under Matt Rhule: 4 receptions, 30 yards, 0 touchdowns
  • 2022 stats under Steve Wilks: 24 receptions, 460 yards, 1 touchdown

The most surprising standout post-Matt Rhule was Terrace Marshall Jr. The former LSU Tiger became a big play threat opposite of star receiver D.J. Moore when all hope seemed lost.

Marshall found himself as a healthy scratch multiple times in Rhule’s tenure. Many wondered why the Carolina Panthers kept a young and budding wide receiver waiting for a shot in the doghouse.

After being let loose, Marshall showed why he was deserving of a second-round selection in 2021.

Marshall appeared in just two of five games in 2022 before Rhule’s firing. When Steve Wilks became the interim, he carved out a role that saw him take at least 85 percent of snaps in 10 of 12 contests to conclude the campaign.

In those 12 games, Marshall is averaging 19.2 yards per reception. Marshall also accumulated 460 receiving yards under Wilks. which is more than double what he had in his whole career before.

Entering 2023, Marshall looks to be an integral part of the Panthers’ passing attack and has a chance to keep improving. Something he was only allowed the opportunity to do when Wilks gave the wideout a supreme confidence boost.
