Which Carolina Panthers players must be extended by the organization following their outstanding efforts in 2022?

There are some monumental decisions awaiting the Carolina Panthers during the 2023 off-season. A new head coach is set to be confirmed shortly, with many personnel matters on the playing side also needing attention before OTAs and training camp begins.

There should be a more collective approach to recruitment and retention this spring. Matt Rhule having the final say on roster decisions was a grave error in judgment on David Tepper’s part, so the new head coach must work closely with the likes of Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan to put a concise plan in place for future accomplishments.

For the current players, it’s an uncertain time. Some sacrifices will be made to improve Carolina’s salary cap, with many others set to be moved on once their respective contracts come to a conclusion before free agency.

On this subject, here are four Panthers players that have to be extended based on their efforts in 2022.

Eddy Pineiro – Carolina Panthers K

The Carolina Panthers got more than they bargained for with Eddy Pineiro. A devastating blow to Zane Gonzalez left more uncertainty at the kicking position just before Week 1, but the former Florida standout proved to be a tremendous acquisition when needed most.

Pineiro was almost flawless throughout the campaign. His miscues in Week 8 at the Atlanta Falcons cost Carolina the game, but one cannot be anything other than impressed by his performances overall.

Giving Pineiro an extension and letting him fight it out with Gonzalez in training camp is the least he deserves. And let the best man win.
