4 Carolina Panthers players guaranteed to leave the team in 2023

P.J. Walker – Carolina Panthers QB
If this was P.J. Walker‘s last year on the Carolina Panthers, he can walk away with his held high. The quarterback accepted his role as a backup, performed competently when stepping in at a moment’s notice, and was nothing but hard-working throughout his three years with the franchise.
Walker’s prospects looked incredibly bleak last summer before injuries to Sam Darnold and Matt Corral. Another health complication to Baker Mayfield saw the one-time Temple star take command under center, immediately assisting to secure Steve Wilks’ first win as interim head coach against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This was swiftly followed by one of the league’s most memorable moments of the campaign. Walker’s astonishing deep bomb to D.J. Moore got them within touching distance of victory at the Atlanta Falcons, but Eddy Pineiro missed the kick and the rest is history.
The final games of 2022 saw Walker occupy backup duties once again. Despite the extreme uncertainty at the position with only Matt Corral under contract in 2023, all signs point to Carolina and the former XFL MVP candidate going their separate ways.
Walker might get a shot at making another team. There are always other career avenues such as the USFL and Dwayne Johnson’s XFL if all else fails.
