Carolina Panthers should monitor Luke Musgrave

  • Tight End | Oregon State Beavers

Finding a productive pass-catching tight end is among the biggest priorities in 2023. Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble can block and they might progress under new head coach Frank Reich, but consistency is a major issue for both when it comes to influencing the passing game.

The free-agent market is full of potential difference-makers, but they won’t be cheap. This could lead the Carolina Panthers toward the NFL Draft for a solution.

One of the most impressive prospects throughout the opening two Senior Bowl practices has gone relatively overlooked but deserves consideration. Luke Musgrave‘s final college campaign was wrecked by injury, but the Oregon State product looks back to his old self if his contributions in Mobile so far are any indication.

Musgrave is a fluid mover with the length to keep opposing players at bay on his routes. The tight end has assured hands and enough athleticism to make contested catches look easy.

Providing the medical checks are sufficient and indicate Musgrave’s troubles are behind him, this is someone the Panthers should have on their radar. However, they won’t be alone and if the prospect’s stock continues to rise, there’s every chance he could be a top 50 selection when push comes to shove.
