Tommy Tremble – Carolina Panthers TE

One glaring failure during the Matt Rhule era was a lack of pass-catching consistency from the tight end position. Letting Greg Olsen leave in 2020 free agency denied the head coach stability when it was needed most, with the likes of Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble failing to make a lasting contribution in the Pro Bowler’s absence.

Both Thomas and Tremble are tremendous blockers, there’s no getting away from that. However, the tight end spot requires much more in the modern-day NFL and this is a conundrum Frank Reich must solve.

Whether the Carolina Panthers seek additional help at the position remains to be seen. It wouldn’t be a shock to see another athletic pass-catcher come into the fold, but there is also hope Reich can finally maximize Tremble’s outstanding physical attributes.

Tremble flashes moments when he could become something more. He is a threat with the football in his hands and is also developing an encouraging nous for finding the end zone in key moments.

There is a lot of hard work for Tremble ahead of his crucial third season. But if anyone can help the former third-round pick out of Notre Dame exceed expectations within an expansive offensive scheme, it’s Reich.
