Predicting the Carolina Panthers quarterback room for 2023 OTAs
By Dean Jones
How could the Carolina Panthers’ much-maligned quarterback room look for OTAs following free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft?
The message has been clear from new head coach Frank Reich and general manager Scott Fitterer. Now is the time to find a proper solution for the quarterback position.
After years of suspect free-agent signings and failed trades, something has to be done. With Matt Rhule no longer having the final say on roster moves, Fitterer gets the chance to finally solve this ongoing concern once and for all.
The Carolina Panthers have an abundance of options at their disposal. Regardless of which direction they go down, it’s imperative the correct decisions are made for Reich to make an immediate impact.
With this in mind, we took a look and predicted how Carolina’s quarterback room might look after free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft.

Jacob Eason – Carolina Panthers QB
The Carolina Panthers brought back Jacob Eason on a reserve/futures deal recently. He saw time on the field thanks to injury in 2022 and also possesses previous experience within Frank Reich‘s system from their time together with the Indianapolis Colts.
Whether this is enough for Eason to make the final 53-man roster is unclear. It’s a long shot, but occupying a practice squad position once again is well within his capabilities.
