Carolina Panthers should monitor Michael Wilson

  • Wide Receiver | Stanford Cardinal

Things should progress for the Carolina Panthers offense under Frank Reich. This is one of the primary reasons why team owner David Tepper overlooked Steve Wilks, so the billionaire is no doubt expecting to see significant improvements right out of the gate.

Finding the right quarterback is critical, obviously. But the Panthers might also need extra help at the skill positions to ensure their signal-caller of choice hits the ground running.

Coming in as a relative afterthought, Michael Wilson did more than most to enhance his draft stock throughout Senior Bowl week. Something the wide receiver continued when the game arrived after bringing in an impressive touchdown catch.

Wilson’s time at Stanford was hit-and-miss as a rotational piece. However, the wideout does possess physicality and is a smooth route runner, which are two traits every team looks for in the modern-day NFL.

Whether this becomes a legitimate late-round option for Carolina is unclear. They don’t possess sixth or seventh-round selections this year and taking Wilson in the top 150 does seem like a stretch all things considered.

Regardless, Wilson should find a home based on this showing. Although he’ll need to build on this positive momentum before the all-important draft weekend arrives.
