4 moves Frank Reich could make to bolster Panthers staff in 2023

Carolina Panthers could hire Brian Johnson as OC
One key appointment remains before the positional coaching search takes center stage. That is finding an offensive coordinator capable of taking the Carolina Panthers’ inconsistent unit forward working in cohesion with Frank Reich.
It’s been a little quiet on that front in the days following Reich’s arrival. Only Jim Bob Cooter – passing game coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars – has been linked with the role, which could mean the Panthers are waiting for one potential candidate that is not yet available for an interview.
Brian Johnson, to be precise.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach is gaining a sound reputation in league circles. The influence he’s had on Jalen Hurts has transformed the player into a potential Super Bowl winner in only his third season, which won’t go unnoticed by teams looking to upgrade their own offensive capabilities.
Johnson made a smooth transition from the college ranks and is someone that would complement what Reich brings from an offensive perspective extremely well. But if the Panthers identify him as a leading man, they must strike quickly with others also set to throw their hats into the ring.
If the Panthers pull this off, it would be another outstanding piece of business. Something that could smooth the transition of whatever signal-caller they bring to become the face of the franchise.
