4 players who could follow Ejiro Evero to the Carolina Panthers in 2023

Carolina Panthers could sign Samson Ebukam
Before Ejiro Evero surged up the head coaching ladder with the Denver Broncos, he was a hugely respected positional coach. His time on Sean McVay’s staff in Los Angeles came with significant praise and something that got him a well-deserved promotion to defensive coordinator last spring.
While this might not hold much weight in terms of how the Carolina Panthers approach recruitment, Evero’s previous knowledge of former Rams players could be critical if certain individuals become targets. One such example is Samson Ebukam, who played in Los Angeles before spending the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
Ebukam has put up decent numbers as a rotational piece since entering the league as a fourth-round selection. There is some encouraging explosiveness to work with and the player also has experience in the 3-4 base scheme Evero is expected to run.
This might not something that interests Ebukam – especially if he gets the chance to remain in San Francisco – but it’s a good system fit. There’s also the promise of extended involvement given the inconsistencies opposite Brian Burns in 2022.
One suspects Evero’s influence to be significant. But with the buck firmly stopping at Scott Fitterer’s door this offseason, everything has to go through the general manager before the 2023 campaign.
