Carolina Panthers could draft Emmanuel Forbes

  • Cornerback | Mississippi State Bulldogs

As stated previously, Ejiro Evero likes to run a lot of 3-4 base schemes and is also renowned for dialing up the pressure at every opportunity. The Carolina Panthers can also expect to see six defensive backs on the field more frequently than during the days of Phil Snow and Al Holcomb.

This sounds great, but the Panthers are lacking quality depth across their secondary. Donte Jackson might not be back for a while and considering C.J. Henderson and Keith Taylor Jr.’s struggles last season, finding alternatives is something Evero will likely demand.

There are plenty of eye-catching cornerback prospects entering the NFL this year. If someone like Emmanuel Forbes is available after the Panthers select their future quarterback, it’s a hard proposition to turn down.

Forbes is exactly what the Panthers need opposite Jaycee Horn. He is fast, instinctive, and has exceptional reactions that allow him to create turnovers when chances arise.

The Mississippi State product needs to bulk up slightly, but his frame is in keeping with the modern-day cornerbacks. This could mean Forbes makes a smooth transition to the next level upon examining his college production and potential for further growth.

Having Forbes and Horn as Carolina’s long-term cornerback starting tandem would be incredible. Whether the Panthers can get themselves in a position to select the player is a completely different question.
