Which Carolina Panthers players could be surplus to requirements in new defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero’s system next season?

Big changes are coming to the Carolina Panthers’ defense after the team secured the coveted signature of Ejiro Evero. The head coaching candidate didn’t do enough to secure a top job in 2023, but one could be in the offing this time next year if he thrives as a coordinator for the second straight campaign in a different environment.

Evero brought a fresh dynamic to the Denver Broncos in 2022. This saw their unit emerge as one of the league’s most prolific across the board, which has the scope to take Carolina to the next level with plenty of exciting pieces at the coach’s disposal.

Any incoming reinforcements on defense need to fit within Evero’s progressive scheme. What this means for current roster members is unclear, but a few could be on the outside looking in for differing reasons.

With this in mind, here are four Panthers players who Evero might want to let go with the front office’s approval in 2023.

The Carolina Panthers could move forward with a 3-4 base scheme more often than not with Ejiro Evero calling the shots. So the playing personnel must be molded around the strength of this system in time for the 2023 season.

Looking at his capabilities, it appears as if Henry Anderson might be surplus to requirements. The edge presence is a solid run defender but doesn’t have the frame needed for a 3-4 defensive end and lacks the explosiveness to be an impactful 3-4 outside linebacker.
