Sean Chandler – Carolina Panthers S

This is a no-brainer for most. Sean Chandler was a shock inclusion onto the Carolina Panthers’ 53-man roster in 2022, which stemmed from his ability to make a lasting impression on special teams rather than the defensive rotation.

Chandler was another former Matt Rhule college player that came in with high hopes but failed miserably. The Temple product saw just seven percent of defensive snaps last season and although Ejiro Evero likes to deploy up to six defensive backs frequently, it’s unlikely to come with a new deal.

One could argue Chandler was extremely fortunate to have two years in Carolina. Had it not been for Rhule, he could have moved on without much fanfare before free agency in 2022.

Even though the Panthers aren’t blessed with great depth on the backend, adding more athletic individuals that thrive in coverage is essential this offseason. Something that should result in Chandler seeking alternative employment.

Xavier Woods is the only player guaranteed to occupy a safety spot next time around. Evero could switch Jeremy Chinn closer to the line of scrimmage, which makes finding capable replacements essential to ensure this critical area of the field doesn’t become a weak link.
