4 Carolina Panthers players who desperately need to develop in 2023
By Dean Jones
Which Carolina Panthers players need to desperately develop to make a far bigger impression when the 2023 season rolls around?
The introduction of new head coach Frank Reich comes with renewed hope. Things went disastrously wrong under Matt Rhule before Steve Wilks steadied the ship, so it’s essential that the Carolina Panthers build on this newfound momentum with opportunity knocking within the NFC South.
This is a time for optimism. It’s also an opportunity for some Panthers players to wipe the slate clean with a view to impressing one of the brightest offensive-minded coaches in the business.
For some, this will be relatively straightforward. As for others, it’ll be a long hard slog with almost no margin for error.
With this in mind, here are four Panthers players who must desperately develop before the 2023 season arrives.
Player No. 1
Deonte Brown – Carolina Panthers OL
Deonte Brown. Remember him?
The mammoth interior offensive lineman came to the Carolina Panthers after dominating all in front of him at Alabama. Things didn’t go nearly as well in the pros, with weight issues and a lack of consistency playing a part in the player getting cut before coming back onto the practice squad.
Brown got a reserve/futures deal once the 2022 season concluded. However, the former sixth-round selection needs to start trending upward quickly to stand any chance of making the 53-man roster.
